News from the CrooksWe hope you had a good year and that you feel blessed. Here is an update on our past year.We love living in Arkansas, and the country life, the wildlife, the neighbors, the church, and Harding University.
Becca's brotherThe biggest thing of last year was the unexpected death of Bec's brother. Mike passed away in February. As his closest living relative, Bec and I made an emotional trip to Columbus to take care of his body and all that goes with that. Since he had no will, we had to contact a lawyer in Ohio to probate. The whole process took about nine months.Once we had legal permission, we could take care of his condo and car. Gray and I went up in May and spent three weeks cleaning out the condo, making repairs, replacing plumbing, ripping up flooring, repainting all the walls, replacing appliances, and hiring others to put in new flooring. Then there was getting a realtor and selling the condo. It sold fast. As for the car, we wound up paying for someone to take it.
Harding UniversityWe enjoy entertaining guests at our house and at campus. We even had the entire girls basketball team from Harding for lunch a couple of times.
Lectureship was fun as we got to host Augustine again and see many old friends on campus.
TripsBec and I have made several trips in Texas (DFW, Abilene, San Antonio, Corpus Christi and Padre Island), Missouri, Ohio, Alabama, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.
A few weeks after Gray and I finish flipping Uncle Mike's condo, we made a father son trip on part of Route 66. We caught it in OKC and went to the grand Canyon and back.
We went to our 40th homecoming at ACU and it was amazing how old everyone got.
The Harding football team made it to the playoffs again this year. I made a trip with my friend David to Pennsylvania for the playoff game.
Other NewsLast spring, Bec contracted Alpha-gal syndrome from a tick bite. It prevents her from eating beef, pork, and dairy. She is currently going through SAAT treatment to overcome the illness.
Cheyenne works at Harding University human resources and loves it. She also teaches second graders at church. She loves her Aussies and her chickens. She is always doing something creative. Gray quit full time work and is now a full-time student at Harding. He changed majors to accounting.
I am teaching adults at church, currently from my book Divine Shadows. I am still hosting Christian parodies on Harding's FM station (95.3 KVHU) on Sundays and Wednesdays (8:00 pm).
We love having family and friends come to visit. If you need our address, it is: the Crooks
